This is an opportunity for you to discover and test your ear for music production and if you already have a musical background, this is your chance to take it to a new level.
Our objective is to introduce aspiring studio engineers to the realities and challenges of a working recording studio environment, at the same time teaching them the fundamentals of producing professional quality audio.
Course Outline
Each session is 4 hours in duration.
Session 1: A brief discovery of room acoustics, electronics, and microphones. Proper care, maintenance and set-up of cables, instruments, and other equipment will also be discussed.
Session 2: Microphone placement, pre-amps, using a metronome while tracking, dynamic processors (compressors, limiters, gates etc), overdubbing, console familiarization, and basic signal chain.
Session 3: Editing, EQ, external effects processors, and software plug-ins
Session 4: Studio mixing, live sound mixing
Session 5: Test your skills! Be an assistant engineer in a session with a recording artist.
Upon Completion...
Upon completion, you make take your knowledge home with you to set up or properly run a project recording studio, or you can rent AB Records at a discounted hourly rate set especially for the graduates of the "Introduction to Audio Engineering Course".
